Cycling The Scottish Borders

Think of the Scottish Borders and think of big spaces: heather-clad hills, hundreds of square miles of forests and woodland, lochs and rivers. Cycling is wonderful way to explore, and is a safe option around Eyemouth with little traffic. Some of the best cycling routes in Scotland can be found here. The Borders has a network of cycle-friendly roads and paths. There are short trips and several signed routes suitable for families, and longer routes to explore the area over a few days.

The Home Arms has secure storage for cycles and drying facilities for clothing and kit. Whether as the centre for a cycling holiday in Scotland or an overnight stop on a longer cycle adventure.

Sandcastles and Surf

Eyemouth beach and the next-door Coldingham Bay with its quaint beach huts are lovely clean sandy beaches suitable for young families and watersports enthusiasts alike. With plenty of rockpools to explore and space for many sandcastles, the beaches are popular with visitors throughout the year. Wrap up well in winter time though!

Occasionally visited by the harbour seals, swans and varied wildlife, on very rare occasions’ dolphins can be seen making their way along the coast.

The Home Arms is a great place to stay for anyone kayaking the Berwickshire coast. We’re easy to find. Paddle up to Eyemouth Bay and you’ll see us right in the middle. Step across the car park and store your Kayaks in our secure storage room. Hot showers and comfy beds are the perfect destination for a day.

The Borders has one of the most spectacular coastlines in Britain. At 28.5 miles long, the Berwickshire Coastal Path is nationally and internationally important for seabirds, coastal flora and marine life.

The Home Arms provides the perfect location and accommodation to walk the Coastal Paths. We are set amongst some absolutely stunning countryside. Routes such as from Berwick-upon-Tweed to St Abbs can easily be divided into manageable chunks with public transport taking you or bringing you back. Our local countryside is different all year round, but always stunning. We have guests who visit all year round to enjoy the changing natural beauty.
